about

"Aftermath" is an instrumental progressive metal concept album about the emotions a person might experience following a tragedy. It combines my tastes in symphonic/progressive metal with a little bit of classical music influence. Being primarily a guitarist, the electric guitar takes the lead throughout the album.

I dedicate this album to my loving family, who has guided me through the aftermaths I have faced.

about

Dan Durham Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I am a progressive rock guitarist with a lot of ideas, experimenting with time signatures, chord progressions, electronic instruments, and occasionally my voice. My style is influenced by classic, progressive, and modern rock and metal artists, and is characterized by how I mix soft melodies and sounds with aggressive, technical playing. ... more

Track Name: Aftermath Part II: Another Toll
"Immunity"

You cannot reach me here
I am separate
Distant
Removed
Here in my vast fortress
I am immune

Detached from the physical
I cannot feel pain
Or sorrow
I cannot want
Or lust
I have no desires
I am free

In my infinite kingdom
I am sovereign
I am absolute

Unbound by the chains of mortality
I do not fear death
Here I am untouchable

In my sanctuary
I find refuge
Absolution
Comfort
Peace

There is no tragedy
No heartbreak
No loss
No grief
No pain

In the aftermath
I find solace
I escape
I do not feel

It is cold
Isolated
Empty
My kingdom is but an endless, desolate wasteland

This is not happiness
This is not paradise
This is not contentment
I feel nothing

But in my darkest moments
Here in my vast fortress
I am immune

"Another Toll"

Immunity can protect you
From the pain and sorrow of this world

But it comes with a cost
The essence of life is lost
